Halloween
With a little of delay, here is our article about Halloween:
The October 31st, as all of you know is the day of Halloween. This is a famous celebration in Ireland, Canada, Australia, Great Britain and also in the USA.
The origine of the word « Halloween » comes from the English language. At the beginning the name for this celebration was « All Hallows Eve » and means « the night of all the saints ». But with the time the word changed and became « Halloween ».
We felt the excitation connected to this party but we were a bit disappointed of the result. We were thinking that we will see something very amazing, but in Tarrytown only some houses were decorated.
However the EF staff decorated the campus really well and organised a party on friday evening, because nobody would be there for sunday. About the food, at the cafeteria we had a sort of Madeleine with an orange foam. It was not so bad ! But there was no pumpkin soups or pumpkin pies. On Friday 29th, some students and teachers and all the staff members were disguised, because there was a competition for the best costume.
For the Halloween Eve on Sunday, we went to Greenwich Village on Manhattan to watch the famous parade. More than 2 million people defied the cold on the pavements to see it. We didn’t watch all the parade because it was so cold and not really amazing. In fact the begining was really good because there were some enormeous skeletons which several persons made move them. It was so huge ! But the rest wasn’t really good because there was a lot of timeouts and the disguises weren’t incredible. Actually there was only normal guys with normal costumes…
Some of our friends had really funny and beautiful disguises as you can see in the pictures below. Also Tristan and me were disguised. Enjoy pictures of Halloween Parade and EF students:
